Pause new developements in Stanway until we have infrastructure to match

Tonight’s council planning committee heard the application for 56 new homes off Dyers Road in Stanway.

Using the public’s right to ‘Have Your Say’, I spoke against the development proposals at this time, suggesting we pause new houses being built in Stanway until we have the infrastructure to support developments coming forward as detailed in the current local plan.

Suggesting if plans were to be approved, we must ensure infrastructure upgrades at Blackberry Road / Winstree Road junction should be upgraded, broadband investment considered and most importantly, road safety for our children walking and cycling to schools in the area, given Dyers Road lacks adequate pathways.

Ensuring any new development proposals have access to public access life-saving defibrillators is also important, and I suggested this provision was implemented should the application be approved.
