School in Stanway to launch ‘Park Safe Schools’

Officially launched on March 16th, North Essex Parking Partnership has announced Fiveways Primary School in Stanway as one of their first Park Safe School sites in North Essex.

The Park Safe School Cameras work in partnership with the 3PR scheme employed at the school, to support a change of behaviour for the safe travel of children to school.

As with the 3PR scheme, cameras are installed and operated by the North Essex Parking Partnership and provide continued support tackling parking issues around schools.

Parent and Stanway campaigner Jeremy Hagon said, “I’m pleased to see the continued investment to protect our children travelling to school. The installation of these cameras will hopefully discourage dangerous driving habits, including dropping off on yellow zig-zag lines.

“With four schools along one road, this in itself poses additional challenges for students, parents and carers alike. Any additional traffic calming measures are very much welcomed.

“I’ll continue to campaign for safer streets across Stanway and as someone who has been campaigning for safety improvements in this area for many years, I do hope the Park Safe School cameras are positively supported by the local community.”

The cameras will be monitored off site by a trained Civil Enforcement Officer and will be used to observe the restrictions and vehicle activity only.
