Winstree Road drainage improvements get the go-ahead

Cllr. Kevin Bentley, County Councillor for Stanway and head of Highways at Essex County Council (ECC) has provided an update on the flooding issues along Winstree Road.

I very much welcome this positive news that funding has been found to deliver improvements along this stretch of highway, to help alleviate the flooding along Winstree Road, and I’d like to thank Cllr. Bentley for continuing to work to find a solution to this ongoing issue.

Drainage improvements – Winstree Road, Stanway, Colchester

In a letter to local residents, ECC said, “We would like to make you aware that arrangements have been made to carry out draining improvements on a section of Winstree Road, Stanway. The works will take place from Monday 8 February 2021 and is expected to take approximately eight days to complete.

“The work being carried out will be located on the shared footway / cycleway between Wheatfield Road and Woden Avenue and will consist of repairing damaged sections of the existing drain under the footway. We will also be installing new kerb gullies which will provide efficient drainage on this side of the road.”
